Recently, Al & Karen Joy became recipients of the President′s Volunteer Service Award for their distinguished work in Red Cross Disaster Relief. This award recognizes dedication to volunteer service and signifies that they serve the community and country with distinction.
Al and Karen are Disaster Volunteers at the Calhoun County Red Cross Chapter serving on the "DAT" Disaster Action Team, working to update shelter agreements; Al is also a board member.
Al and Karen travel on National Disaster Assignments for the Red Cross and provide assistance to clients during their recovery process. While Al and Karen are members of the Calhoun County Chapter, they winter in Florida and volunteer at the Red Cross in Ft. Myers Florida. In Lee County, they serve as "DAT"members and are on call to serve disaster clients. This past winter, Al and Karen were nominated by the Lee County Chapter for the President′s Volunteer Service Award.
Al and Karen are greatly valued by both Red Cross Chapters and by the people they serve. Congratulations and special thanks to a most deserving couple!
