On January 16, 2007 Joy Neulieb was presented with a plaque for "Disaster Team Member of the Year." In this area there may be none other so deserving of this award. Joy has a gift for giving her time and effort to those in need. In the year 2006 Joy Neulieb accumulated over 1,650 hours of volunteer time.
Joy began her training in September of 2005 right after hurricane Katrina devastated so many homes & lives. She was compelled to help when she saw the catastrophic conditions of those affected by the hurricane. This was her call to duty for the American Red Cross.
After her training Joy was deployed to the call center in Washington D.C. to aid clients with information and resources available to them. The immense amount of help that Joy provided to those in need can only be imagined. With a kind and caring heart she is the epitome of someone that would be treasured by all those around her in their time of need.
Now back in Michigan, Joy has dedicated her time to the disaster services department of the American Red Cross on a daily basis. She spends what some would call a demanding work week at the Red Cross of her own free will. As a Disaster Action Team Member she spends time after hours helping clients and assisting those in need. She also volunteers her time at V.A. Hospital helping our veterans and their families. The most heartfelt thank you could not begin to describe how much Joy means to those that she works with and those that she aids in times of crisis. We can only be humbled by this Joy's immense desire to make a difference daily in the lives of others.
