Announcing the Betty Beese Training and Blood Center
Long time American Red Cross volunteer Betty Beese was honored and recognized by our local chapter for her years of service and commitment to our chapter. Betty has been an American Red Cross Volunteer for 66 years.
Betty started her volunteer service teaching swim lessons to children and first aid classes while in college. Betty continued to teach these lessons and became more involved by volunteering at the local office and serving on the Board of Directors. "Betty is an absolutely wonderful lady who is near and dear to many of our hearts, including mine," said Angie Gresley, Health and Safety Director when asked about Betty′s work at the local chapter. Gresley continues, "If you have the opportunity to sit and chat with Betty, you will learn so much about the history of the Red Cross and our local chapter."
Betty has served on many committees in our chapter including the volunteer advisory committee, the health and safety committee, the disaster committee and the volunteer appreciation committee which plans the volunteer recognition events and dinners. Beese has been an active part of our blood services program and volunteers for most blood drives held in Albion. Beese states, "As soon as I was old enough, I took a first aid and water safety instructor course (later CPR) and have been teaching in those areas ever since."
